The Ellis Island Medal of Honor Award, 2006

Maxine was a 2006 recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor which recognizes individuals who exemplify outstanding qualities in both their personal and professional lives, while continuing to preserve the richness of their particular heritage.  Honorees of this award typically include U.S. Presidents, Nobel Prize winners, leaders of industry, and gifted artists, performers, and athletes.  The other recipients in 2006 included Tom Ridge, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Vlade Divac, Dr. Deepak Chopra and Martin J. Sullivan, just to name a few.
